Bottlebrush Wildrye
A locally common cool season grass of riparian areas and woodland edges. In Missouri this species is less common than other wildryes and is mostly found in small pockets in shaded, low areas. Bottlebrush wildrye has excellent forage value, but has lower forage production than other native cool season species. Bottlebrush wildrye is easily identified by its sparsely filled seedheads and adds an interesting visual texture to wildflower beds.
