Hairy Woodland Chess
An often-overlooked species of woodlands and wood edges. Hairy Woodland Chess is common, but sporadic throughout central and southern Missouri. It is a brome species, but is not invasive like the more common smooth bromegrass. Forage value is good, but productivity is low. Consider using this species in field edges and other shaded areas where it will thrive compared to warm season grasses. Can grow in full shade.
