Illinois Bundleflower
A common species of prairies, roadsides, waste areas, glade edges, and savannas. Useful species for pastures as well wildlife plantings where browse and seed crops for birds are useful. Small white blooms last from mid July until August and unique bundles of seed pods form shortly after. Seed tends to hold on in some pods until winter making this a great early winter food source for many bird species. Illinois bundleflower is tolerant of imazapic and can be added into grass mixtures if no broadleaf weed control is expected in the establishment year.
