A colorful early summer wildflower found in prairies and woodland edges. Plants spread by roots and can form small colonies. This plant is attractive in large plantings and is at home in the landscape as well. Blue flowers appear in May and can bloom until late June. Foliage is grass like and can be difficult to identify when young.
