Partridge Pea

Categories:

A showy annual legume found in prairies, pastures, glades and many other habitats. This species adds a touch of color to first year plantings. Blooms occur over a long period in late summer. Many pollinators visit this plant and ants utilize nectaries found at the base of leaves. This relationship is beneficial for both parties. The ants receive sugar and in return protect the plant from other herbivorous insects.
