Swamp Milkweed
Swamp milkweed is found in wet soils and other areas with consistent moisture. This species works well in bottomland prairie and pasture plantings and is very useful in riparian plantings. Flowering occurs in August. Blooms are light pink and occur at the ends of each highly branched stem. Like all milkweeds, this species serves as a host plant for monarch butterfly larvae. Consider using this species anywhere that may be too wet for common milkweed to be used.
