Butterfly Milkweed

Asclepias tuberosa

This is one of the most striking milkweed species. Blooms are vibrant orange and stand out in early summer. Occasionally some populations will contain yellow flowering plants. Butterfly milkweed is a great pollinator plant and can be a great addition to pasture mixes, flower beds, and prairie plantings. During droughty conditions this species may bloom a second time.
