Purple Coneflower

Echinacea purpurea

A common plant of tall grass prairies and open woodlands throughout the Midwest. This is likely the most commonly cultivated prairie species and makes for an attractive addition to formal and informal plantings as well as native pastures. Flowers are pink to purple colored and attract many species of bees and butterflies. Blooms occur from July to September, with some individual plants continuing until frost.
